Actually, I have three versions. An EX, a RACE and a retarded version for a 1250. I just loaded it the bike last night for testing. I haven't had a chance to do the 1 mile WOT throttle test or the simulated drag race test yet. None of the versions have as much timing as you're used to and I don't know if the IA switch works with the EX maps. They are easy to modify in the software. Just open the map, left click and highlite all the cells, then right click and select modify. Say you want to advance the table by 2 degrees, just enter +2 in the box and click OK. Boom, its done. Save it, rename it, load it, ride it. Be aware that the EX format does limit the amount of advance in some areas of the map. IMO, its not in the important areas.

PM me your email and I'll send it (them) to you if you want.

Michele, What temperature range should my oil be at? I'm going to check it and take a gander at the plugs later. I really like this thread!!!!

Scott

You need the oil temp high enough to cook off the moisture.

220 is fine

I have trouble getting mine that warm !

Every bike is different but according to HD, temps of 230
are safe. I've seen NRHS Dan say he has no worries seeing temps near 230.

Maybe you need to retard the timing a little or lean out the mixture some.
Xena wrote that when she retards the timing in her bike it runs too hot. From what I understand an overly rich condition tends to cool things down some. I've been reading up on the S&S IST. That system uses a knock sensor, and temperature sensor to help adjust timing while the bike is running. It's supposed to adjust to any engine mods you may make too! However, if you want that, you're gonna have to pay. Not cheap.

just a quick note on MAP(Manifold Absolute Pressure)........ first the word "absolute" refers to where zero is placed on the scale..... in PSI Absolute, 0 psi is a perfect vacuum and atmospheric pressure is 14.696 psi approx..... in PSIg (gauge) atmospheric pressure is zero and a perfect vacuum is -14.696PSIg or 30 in of mercury, iHg........ Kilopascals is the metric version of the absolute measure where a perfect vacuum is zero and atmospheric pressure is 101.325 kPa........

the MAP value represents engine load and a higher number represents higher load (more open throttle compared to RPM).......

example :
cruising along at 3000rpm on a slight down grade has very low engine load and a lower kPa number..... if that slight downgrade turns into a steep uphill you open the throttle to maintain 3000 rpm and same speed and the kPa number starts to climb towards atmospheric pressure (101.3 kPa)

engines require more advance under load at a given rpm and also need more advance as rpm increase at a given load

any questions??

From the description, the IST doesn't sound
anything like the TC88A. Link
Sportsterpaul has one so he'd know more than us.
I'll ask him to stop in here and comment.
