handy dandy charts there Mick, much appriciated. Think I'll have to print those off because there is allways something I'm sure I forgot to check during a pm or something that I can't remember what the reading was at last check.

Service and parts manuals are a #1 MUST HAVE
"Ironhead Problems" = operator error
most can be corrected by reading up on "How To Repair It" first ,second and maybe a third or forth untill you UNDERSTAND it completely.
Ask questions before you think you know how to disassemble something, not after you broke some expensive part.
"Sticky`s" ,the most valuable section on this site."How To`s" you can read, videos you can watch
The best answers you can get are from the persons who have been there already making these repairs and have their own bag of tricks too.

I bought my first '77 Sportster in '78 and the thing that I've seen do the most costly engine,transmission,cosmetic,fire and structural damage to some fine looking Sportsters from then till now was drinking and riding .
Most of the bikes I've worked on got mangled coming and going from parties or being used as late night bar hoppers .
Don't want to sound like a reformed whore but it's true . I was lucky enough to walk away from a bad one but I remember some good friends of mine that didn't .
