Default 73-84 big twin rear wheel

Haven’t posted in a long time. I bought an aftermarket 16x3 wheel that says it fits front and rear of touring models and rear of a super glide. So far, the spacing from face to face of the ‘flanges’ is about a 1/4” narrower then the same spacing on my 1997 Sportster stock wheel. Not an issue since I can add a rotor and pulley spacer to get what I need. My issue is the bearing set and inner spacer set up. The hole for the inner spacer is huge compared to stock. They take the same # taper bearings, but I don’t know how to set up the spacing in the rim. Looking at the stick rim, it looks like the bearings are off set to one side when looking at index ring. My new rim haves index rings that are longer then the stick rear wheel. I figured I can just grind down any of the ring that sticks out passed the rotor and pulley. Again, not sure how to set up the bearings. Thanks for any help!
