41mm is 2mm bigger of course.

2mm is .0787”.

You are measuring approximately. .060" bigger than the fork I.D

The Traxxion website does not list a cartridge kit for the earlier forks. If you put a 2001 bike in the search, it just shows accessories.

They say “virtually any bike made since 1988, but you have to go to a newer bike to find a listing for the AX-20 cartridge kit.

Traxxion website

http://https://traxxion.com/product/...cartridge-kit/

“Product Description

We have our AK-20 Axxion Cartridge Kits available for most modern Sport, Sport Touring, Touring, and Cruiser motorcycles. Please use the search feature to find specific applications for your motorcycle. If you do not see your motorcycle listed just contact us. If we do not have an application more than likely we can make one. We will simply need the forks to be sent in to us so we can spec the fork. In exchange for the spec we will give you a free service and install, $225 value.”

I think my issue is I bought it through a 3rd party. It didn't say anything about fork size. Hopefully I can get a hold of traxxion tomorrow. Hope it's just as simple as sending the forks to them or maybe they just sent the wrong kit.

I got a hold of traxxion. They where pretty nice . I spoke to Dan and he said I have to send them in. The totally gut the internals of the 39mm and do some machining. So I'll be shipping my forks off this weekend.

So, a tight fit but possible with extra machining.

The good part is they should come back perfect.
I’d like to hear how the end result (handling and ride) turns out.

He did say they mill them out to fit. They totally rebuild them so that's good. I'm working on getting the rear shocks spaced out right so the are straight up and down. (Got the twin adj shocks with the kit.)The ride part is still going to be awhile.

I put a 1275 in her last year and she is still on the lift.

Seems every time I complete an upgrade I find something else that needs attention. Plan is to have her roll of the lift like she was brand new. I just put new brake rotors on and wheel bearings.
While the forks are out I'll do the steering bearings. Also the rear swing arm bearings.

Then I can't make up my mind about putting mid controls back on with drag bars or leave the 16s on with the fwd controls.

I have painted my tins 3 times and was unhappy with the outcome. So I'm working on painting them again . Might just send them out for paint. I'm trying to get a 6x6 of my profile picture on each side of the tank.

Sorry for the long reply.
