I don't know where Lower AL is (Alabama or Alberta) so it's impossible to determine what your gearing is, but my 2005 883 cruises easily at 70 (3500RPM) and accelerates quickly to 80 (4000RPM) for passing no problem.
I normally cruise at 70 on the highway and I've just passed 140,000KM.
Actually 3500RPM is the happy place for these motors, and it's actually where I get my best gas mileage too (60MPG+ Imperial).

My brother and I blasted down I-95 (80-90mph) on sunday for a little rode trip to south florida…. we have 2001 1200's and they performed great at those speeds.

We did that on 650/750/850cc twin cylinder British bikes. Why should an 883 or 1200 Sportster not be capable of the same?

Have no idea... I saw a few posts that suggest comfort was a factor over 70mph, but I always go 90 on the interstate and its real comfortable in my experience.

Default 70-75mph

06 Roadster. Runs good, sounds good at 70-75. 80+ starts sounding wound out to me. Not so on my 6spd Dyna. Might try taller gearing next year
