after giving this some more thought this morning i remembered i did this about 8 or 9 yrs. ago during my Andrews gears and shafts upgrade.the trans. and shifter shaft were not in the cases at the time.your shifter shaft is still installed so it's an obstacle for that procedure. it could still be done but you would have to put a slot in the pipe spacer to pass over the shaft.after the bushing would be driven out you would have to cut a slot in it tor removing that.not as trouble free with the shaft still in the trans.

Yeah-- my transmission seems fine and won't be coming out. I'll just proceed with removing the cam cover. Thank you for the info, friends!

Because nobody has mentioned this but I seem to recall many years ago we would pull the sprocket cover for observation purposes and tap a new bushing in from the outside and then cut off the old one from the inside or maybe even leave the old one on the shaft. Like I said many years. Good luck with the repair
