I’m 300miles into my 1250 run in and must say this has completely changed the 885 for the better in all road conditions.

Definitely more "driveable"... less throttle needed in all conditions... no need to rev it up as when it was 883...

About changing gear ratios... NO WAY! there is exactly why she now has all that "Instant Up & Go"!!! BUT.... if you are to ride on Highways and/or long trips.... then it should be a must or you will get sick of it.

For rural roads, City, and quick A to B,s it is just awesome.... I can not go that quick with my S&S 117 ci Chopper like I do with my Sportster in "limited" spaces.

Would (Will) I take her on a long trip like it is now? Yes!!! but I must be ready to take it easy on the H/Ways... 120/150 Kph max, and not for too long... I am noticing her sweet "cruising" spot is around 100/110 Kph (that's by ear)
but she goes fine at 150 too, but, I just don't dare to push her at that pace for longer than 20/30 mins at the moment.

HD, I agree with you!

I'm hoping for more acceleration for around town riding, and just better performance from 55 to 70 when occasionally getting on the interstate. Not a big fan of freeway riding or lane splitting, which is inevitable here in SoCal. I had to lane split almost 20 miles one day last summer (huge accident caused a major traffic jam), a mentally exhausting experience.

I ride almost 100% on local roads, so having more acceleration in those conditions is good for me. I'd prefer "quicker" to "faster."

BTW, I love your cat avatar. Awesome.

John
Well mine is definitely quicker’ around town. Far more responsive to throttle control

Got a chance to ride this morning. Cold air today and light (but not wet) fog, perfect for cooling the engine. Added another 40 miles and now at 50 miles total.

The bike runs absolutely beautifully. No carb pops, no exhaust pops. Idles like a kitten purring. Took her on the freeway briefly, should have plenty of passing power now. I still like the stock gearing too. Spark plugs a light gray and both the same.

I could not be happier at this point. Well worth the investment.

John
