Hey guys - glad you both got the forks finished... They look good...

Did you have spacers on top of your stock springs? My stock springs were sticking out the top of the slider already... Now the Progressive Springs were shorter and needed spacers...

Speaking of which - I made some 2" spacers to replace the 3" ones that came in the kit I bought (intended for rubbermount bikes) ... The 2" size is what Progressive recommended for my 1994 -- and it turns out that seems right...

I replaced the spacers and the forks then had about 1" of bike sag and when I sat on it, it picked up another 1/2"-3/4" of sag... So the total is around 1-3/4" of static sag...

That definitely softened up the ride - but I only put about 15 miles on it since changing them ... So I'll need another 200-300 miles before deciding whether to shorten them any farther ... My guess is that they are going to be the right length at 2"...

Yes, the preload spacers were (and are) on top of the factory springs. They stick out a good bit and it takes a hefty shove to get the caps started. I mark the start of the thread for a reference, then carefully push and turn by hand so as not to strip a thread. It's a lot easier with an extra set of hands.

Thought I'd revive this thread. I've put 2 seasons on my "lifted" front end now. Still working wonderfully! I'll dump the oil and start fresh for next season.

Glad to hear they are working well... Mine, too, have been working fine...

But I need a new front tire for next season... Have about 7800 on it...
