Roll pin only stops the shim from spinning. Needn't be perfect.

But easy enough to pull and replace with a new one.

The roll pins purpose is to stop the tabbed main shaft spacer from spinning and becoming an oil slinger.

That doesn't look like a repair. That is a welded in reenforcing ring. I see no damage or work to outside of cases. Unless it is well disguised.

My eyesight's not that good either Rick but pretty sure I can see cracks at 4 and 8 O'clock.

I've seen them cracked like that before. But a pretty good repair job I think.

You keep saying you are blind, but I would agree there are small cracks in the OEM bearing boss at 4 & 8.
I was looking for a blowout.
Looks like someone caught that one just in time.
