I also have a Shorai on my bikes. Both the Harley and the Guzzi. Had the Guzzi for about 8 years and the Harley for about six years. Didn't replace anything and have had absolutely no problems. I also love 'em.

jharback, the reason I asked is because 86-93 Sportsters alternator were regulated to 15v, which exceeds the stated upper voltage limit for Shorai.
Whereas later Sportsters were regulated to 14.8v which should be fine. I don't know if that is important in practice. Hence my question.

Just for a point of reference all rubbermounts are listed as regulated to 14.3-14.7 V (Carb and EFI, 22 and 32 amps respectively)

No, did not do a thing. In fact, I have not even touched my Shorai battery in the four years I've had it on the bike. Amazing. I used to have to remove the lead/acid battery at least once a month to check water and charge.

John
Ha ha, I haven't had to check the water level in a battery in over a decade...

I never removed my OEM Sporty battery until it was 7-8 years old.

Thanks John, if yours is a 1991 Sportster, it suggests the Shorai can tolerate up to 15v then.

Thanks for noticing that Bone. It is Shorai that are limited to 14.8v. The 14.3-14.7v range also applies to 1994-2003 as well. 86-93 are regulated to 13.8-15v. Hence my question to John.
