^^^^ yes.if you have no continuity between the coil springs it sounds like the coil is open.

>...sounds like the coil is open.

It's open to new ideas, like a new coil.

01rk, you may want to consider getting a rotor with a rare earth magnet while your mag is at Morris. It will help with easier starting. The downside is it will probably run around $300. Cheaper than rollers...

Took the mag to Morris on Fri. didn't find much out. When I called I asked if it could be checked while I was there, was told yes, but when I got there that didn't happen.
Just seemed to want to sell me one of his mags, don't want to spend $1200.
I left it there to be tested, hopefully will hear from him soon.

I don't know anything about an mm3, but I don't have $1200 to spend on a mag.

Got the mag back from Morris, installed it and checked everything out. Both front pushrods loose, single line of the flywheel in the center of the hole, used cellophane to check the break, tighten everything down and put on the carb, new plugs.
Kicked it over, nothing, didn't even pop. Squirted some gas in the cylinders and it fired but did not start. More gas same result.
Took of the Mic and put on the Bendix thinking accelerator pump would give it the gas it needed to start, no luck. Yes I put fresh gas in the tank!

Do you have a locked mag or does it have a centrifugal advance?

If it has a centrifugal advance you may be too far advanced.

If you used the tdc mark instead of the firing mark you may be retarded.

The marks differ on some flywheels.
When you rotate the motor the first mark is the firing mark at full advance.
The second mark is the TDC mark.

Also with a mag you should not use resistor plugs or suppression plug wires.
Non-resistor plugs and solid core wires.

I will look in the sticky's for the adjustment.
The mag is locked in position, my FSM shows a single line as the timing mark, that's why I set it there. There is no centrifugal advance. I have 8.8mm solid ss core plug wires and I am using the autolite plugs everybody on here recommends gapped at.20
