The XL has (on paper at least) 96nm / 70ft-lb of torque versus the 66nm / 49ft-lb of the Kawa. You'd think it's a no-brainer that the XL would pull like a beast... but it doesn't.

I'm glad that my friend convinced me to take the 1200 instead of the 883 as it has "loads more power" than the 883. Thank goodness I didn't take the Iron - if the 1200 has loads more then the 883 must be a dead fish. But here's the thing I'm pondering about. Did HD on purpose make the stock bikes underpowered? I'm reading on how the AC and pipes and EFI remapping improve the bikes so much more than stock, but does it really? Will I just waste my money by getting $2000 of performance parts?

Sorry for the rambling, and cheers from Australia,
TonyPolony
Apples and oranges.
To think you would have the same ride experience is just bologna.
BTW welcome to the forum.

Do the necessary AC, pipes, and EFI tuner. That's a given on any bike as neutered as they are from the factory.
I also agree you're comparing apples to oranges.
That said, you'd be surprised what the right set of cams will do. Sounds to me like you're a "feel the torque off the line" kinda guy.
Maybe a sprocket change?
