Default Mystery oil splatter in exhaust

I completed a top end rebuild (new piston rings and valve seals) over the summer on my 96' 1200. After some riding, I realized I had black oily residue splatter coming out at the end of my front cylinder exhaust pipe. With further inspection of my exhaust port, I noticed black tar-like coating in and around my valve and exhaust port. I figured the front exhaust valve seal didn't hold and needed to be replaced. I replaced seal and so far it stopped the splatter.

Another ride or so later, now my rear exhaust has the same black oily residue at the end of the exhaust pipe.

I took off my exhaust pipe to inspect the port and expected to see the same tar-like residue that the front exhaust port had...but instead, I found nothing. Just normal carbon deposit...and my spark plug isn't oil foiled...if anything, the cylinder seems to be burning lean.

What is the oily residue coming out of my exhaust? moisture mixed with exhaust? pinhole in exhaust pipe? Worn piston rings?

Photos of exhaust ports in links.

Did you replace the umbrella valves?
This is getting away from my fields of interest (electrical and carbs), so maybe others will comment.

I didn't replace the valves, I only lapped them. I also replaced all the gaskets with cometic ETS top end rebuild kit

Umbrella valves are rubber and go into the breather holes on the intake sides of the head.

Yeah I replaced the umbrella valves with the new ones that came in the cometic top end rebuild kit. What are you suggesting is the issue with the umbrella valve? Should I check my intake valve/port for the oil leak?

Do you still send the breather in the air cleaner?

Also check if the side hole of the breather is not facing down, best to index it facing up; that way less oil reach the way out.

yeah I have a S&S super E carb and have ports from the breathers that connect through a rubber hose to the air cleaner. I have the rear cylinder breather port aimed up in the 2 o'clock position to increase the clearance for the fuel enricher, but I'm not sure if the hole is facing up or down.

So I called the guys at S&S and asked if the hole of the breather banjo bolt fitting could be facing down and he said that he did not think that was the issue.

However, he said my banjo bolt fittings should be pointing straight to eachother or slightly tilted down. Any oil left in the hose could drip back down into the headers.

I'm hesitant to believe that the oily residue coming out of the exhaust pipe is from my breather fittings

Yes it can, especially if you keep your oil level high in your tank.
