I'd been wanting to downsize for a while, my long distance MC traveling days are over. If I need to go far I'll take the truck. In August last year I sold my bagger and picked up a low mileage '07 883 Low for cheap. I added Gattlin mufflers and a K&N AC then tuned it with my PV. Still pretty anemic to my tastes coming from a cam'ed up 103.

So I marked time till Hammer put on the Christmas specials and bought a set of 1250 jugs. I tore it down at the end of January and kinda didn't get in a hurry to get it back together till this week when the weather got really nice. I finished this afternoon and have done the recommended heat cycling. I took it for a short first ride just a little bit ago and I'm very pleased. Very crisp and responsive. I can't wait to get some miles and tuning done so I can let her fly. Very pleased with the Hammer crew and the product was very nice.

I also installed a set of Rocker Lockers just because I could and they were cheap. I'm not gonna hold my breath, but if they help it will be OK. In between heat cycles I added a set of 13" Progressive shocks and a set of 1.5" risers.

Nice weather is here and I'm ready. Later this year I plan to use my HD visa bucks to convert the front end to standard height and add Progressive springs too.

I sure you have adjusted the timing, 883 timing will not work with the upgrade. Could cause heating problems.

I'm using the 1250 base tune provided by Hammer. I should be OK for the time being. I'm more of a carb and breaker points kinda guy, but I'm slowly coming around to liking FI and flash tuning.

At a beginner level............. I've had my PV for several years and flashed a few tunes to the bikes, but I haven't used the auto tune function as yet. Never needed to till now. We'll, I've put around 200 miles on the 1250. So I am running about 60 in high gear and decide to hit it pretty hard for the first time. I give it about 3/4 throttle and it blew right through the clutch. Hmmm that seemed too easy, so it did it again. Same result. So I guess I'll be headed to the drivetrain threads for clutch research. I knew the stock clutch would be weak, but was surprised how easy the 1250 ran through it.

Congrats on the new ride. I'm hoping to get my 1200 to 1250 with cams done here shortly. Got some time today so I'll get close but I'm curious about the clutch issue as well. I plan on an upgrade, just a question of if I have to right off.

Adding an extra plate kit and an energy one 15% heavier clutch spring plate should solve your issues. I put an alto Carbonite plus the energy one 15% spring plate in mine and have no issues but it is overkill.
