Hi
So I Clean and reinstalled the ground wire
Battery negative to ground behind primary 0.3 ohms
Battery Negative to ground Near the oil lines 0.3 ohms

Voltage across battery 12.3 v
Voltage across battery when running 13.9 v
Seems to be charging fine never had an issue there

Cleaned all the connection at the ignition module.

So I started the bike with the DPST 1 and got the U1255
Cleared the code
change to 883 ignition Started no code
bike seems to run fine
changed back to DPST 1 bike starts fine no code

I had installed a new Crank position sensor last year.
I only ran the bike a few hunderd miles.
Crank had failed just after
I had a problem a few years back with the CKP, changed it and also bought a spare.
I will remove it and check all the connections and see if there is any damage.

Speedo has always worked fine but I

I have put a new coil 3 years ago and changed the map sensor.
when I was chassing the CKP issue.
I'll see if I can check if the plug are arcking.

thank you for all the suggestions

If a code returns and swapping out the DSPT 1 allows it to clear, I would be concerned about the DSPT 1. Am I missing anything?

Hello.

I still have to double check if the TSM is plug correctly.

I started the bike again today.
Fine with the Stock Icm
Switched to the DSPT 1 alos started fine
No codes.

I checked the CKP
I have a two prong CKP
plug it to check the voltage
Reads 0.0 as I spin
Reads 0.01v when piston is almost at the end of compression cycle
Back to 0
Rotate some more
Read 0.01v when second piston reach top of compression stroke.
Seems normal.

When I removed the plugs after running with the DSPT1 they were black and wet
Worse than I have ever seen them.

I'll keep searching.

Thanks for all the help.

CKP testing is about 1/2 down post 1 of this link:

http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread...986193&page=12

Will check Sportsterpedia as I think IXL2Relax found/developed better/more info than I had Aug 2016.

http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...k:evo:engctl03

You read 0.0 (confirm ac, not dc scale) and 0.01 as piston approached tdc.
Consolidated summary: 0.3 vac cranking and 1 vac idle from generic (not HD specific) research
Sportsterpedia: 1 vac minimum cranking, idle not listed, lead to lead resistance 600-1200 ohms

I thinking of doing a test.
Replacing DPST-1 with the old 883 ignition i kept.
Just to see if there is an improvement.
My train of thought is if the bike runs better (just a 20 minute or so test) with 883 ignition and the sputtering does not return that would mean I need a new ignition.
Would that be a correct assumption?
So here's the XLForum threads regarding the Dynatek DSPT-1: (IT IS NOT DPST-1)
https://www.google.com/search?q=DSPT-1+site:xlforum.net

It's a programmable module - What have you done to explore to find the RIGHT MAP for this module and your particular engine???

IXL2Relax I have read most of these threads relating to the DSPT1 .

I had bought it with the conversion to 1275 in mind.
The recommended curve for my particular conversion is 28 C.

What I perceive to be misfire has been going since the conversion. I could not really tell at the time because the crank was also causing some symptoms.

I'm just keep going with the process of elimination.

Thanks for your input

Hi

So I cleaned the connector and the pins on the TSM. I don’t have a security system.
Everything seems okay.
Could it be possible that the TSM be defective if all the lights work and cancel after a turn?

I can generally follow a circuit. I have installed lights and the tach from Dakota.
I rewired the rear lights and wiring under the fender. Previous owner had lowered the bike too far.

I cannot seem to find the Vehicle speed sensor on the shop manual diagrams. It is in the part manual. I did find the CKP and the Map. No VSS I may be missing something.

Does the VSS have any effect on the Timing or firing sequence?
I have ordered a new one just in case. This one is 14years old.

I did put the battery on the tender for 5 hours Voltage across is 12.6.
I’ll see about getting a new one once I have this issue resolved.

Thank you for your support.

On the Schematic for the Main Harness (Page 1 of 2) (Page 5-21 in the manual)
The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is located just above the MAP Sensor and Crank Position Sensor.

It operates off a common 5v power supplied by the ICM (Pin3 - RED/White Wire) and shared with the MAP Sensor.

The VSS signal (PinB) returns to the ICM (Pin10 - WHITE/Green Wire).

Should have no affect on Idle.

Have you checked the plug wires? They can cause misfires. Do you have another set to swap in there?

Did you replace the plugs that were 'black and wet'?

Conflicting information - Do you still have misfires with the Stock ICM? Still with the DSPT-1?
