Default frisco tank runs out of gas early

howdy all. I have some interesting stuff going on with my chopper. I have this tank: http://www.tcbroschoppers.com/tc-bro...-gas-tank.html
I am using the 3/8 fiting for petcock and I am certain that I am running out of gas with at least a 3rd a tank left. I believe its because of the angle on my rigid frame. Is there any downside to going to the 1/4 in petcouck outlet that is further down the bottom of the tank? Also how do i know if I have a reserve? thanks for the help.

TC makes really good products from my experience. The problem you have, and the reason I didn't buy that tank from TC was that it has the factory location for the petcock. With the modified location of the frisco tank compared to the factory one you definitely will not get to use all of the gas in that tank.

If you look at a stock Sporty tank you will see it has a higher tunnel to accommodate the stock mounting points that keep the tank kinda parallel with the ground more so than the frame. The frisco mount keeps the tank parallel with the backbone of the frame instead of the ground-hence front of the tank is now elevated. With the factory petcock location and elevated front you are indeed losing like a third, or maybe half of your tank capacity!

The same type frisco tank can be purchased from Lowebrow, or Throttle Addiction(probably others) with a inlet on the rear left corner of the tank to fix the problem you are having. That way the fuel supply is at the lowest point of the tank.

Sorry to say, you are either going to have to modify that tanks inlet or buy a different one with the rearward location.

Edit: went back and took another look. I see that tank has two 1/4 inch npt bungs at the rear for the petcock. Did you use one of those or the 3/8 one in the middle?

No issue at all using the 1/4 bungs. They would solve the problem. As for reserve look at the petcock, if It has an R position the it has a reserve. If you switch to the 1/4 spot you'll want a 90 degree outlet petcock. With a strait out you'll run into the rocker covers.
