Mea culpa...I was under the impression that you had a points ignition. I might have gotten the idea from Doodah's post.

sorry to be misleading about the points - but never the less both points and the 79 ignition used 5ohm coils...

Totally agree about the pictures, thats why i snapped some today in the morning. I didnt get a chance to check points but i will get to it tonite or tomorrow and post pictures. The only wires the motor has are these...tried uploading pictures but it didnt let me so i created an album on flickr. Check the pictures out now and let me know what im missing.

OK, I can see the pics.

First one is a picture of the starter solenoid and some of the wires going to and coming from it, and the top of the starter motor.

Second pic is the starter motor.

Third pic is the starter solenoid again.

Fourth pic is the left end of the generator and what looks to me like a chopped off clutch cable?

This isn't really true, right? Surely there are more wires for the coil, ignition switch, regulator, starter relay, handlebar switches, etc.?
Motor is off the frame. That's all I got. Motor, frame (roller). When I asked the person who sold it to me, he said i would need a coil, regulator and battery to have it started. I know for sure the rest will come into place so i can have switches and all of the rest. As of right now I want to know what I need just for the motor to start up. If that makes any sense of course

A lot to do there before startup...might be easier to go ahead and mount it in the frame. Several wires, switches, carb, fuel and oil lines to hook up before it'll be safe to start. You could hook a battery up and see if it will turn over, but i wouldn't worry about getting it to run just yet.
