Default Check the Gas

Since most of the USA has been hit with storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, and especially flooding, this year.. I think it would be wise to ask the gas stations you patronize if they check their tanks, for water, more often.
Since gasoline sets on top of water, and the pumps draw 2"-4" off the bottom of their tanks, I'm surprised we haven't heard more complaints of "ill running" vehicles. So next time you go to "Thrifty-Pump" find out how often they "stick" their tanks. If it rains a lot, it should be everyday!

Most likely the reply to that question would be,"huh?"

Only to a point. When saturated the ethanol drops out of solution and collects on the bottom. Called phase separation.

By alcohol, I'm assuming you mean "ethanol".

. Water won't mix with gasoline, so as ChinCactus said, it separates completely from the gasoline and the gasoline sets on top of the diluted ethanol. So if your fuel pickup is on the bottom of the tank, it's only going to pull the diluted ethonal into the fuel pump or flow into the carb.
