Default Mustang Fastback (XL1200N)

My first real post here. Hope the info / pics are of use to someone. Apologies for the messy garage. Time for spring cleaning

Finally got tired of sore butt and feeling like I was sliding off with my HD Badlander seat so I gave in and ordered a Mustang Fastback. It arrived today and, so far, I couldn't be happier. I'm really satisfied with the balance of style and comfort. Looking forward to better weather so I can test it out with a full day's ride.

For reference: 2011 XL1200N with Mustang Fastback seat #76145

I have the same seat on my '02 XL1200C...it was ok at first, good for about 75 miles then numb butt set in...now it's good for about 50 miles..it is an overall nice looking seat, not made for two up..the passenger would probably shoot you...kidding aside, it beat the Lapera seat that was on it..I weigh about 150 so I'm not a buffalo butt. It makes the bike look good too. I received the optional Harley seat that originally came with the bike, the first owner ( I am the third) had ordered the bike with optional seat that H~D offered I guess and instead brought in the Lapera seat and the seat I'm using now was put in a box and never used...it came with the bike when the second owner bought it. Overall, I like this seat the best...There is one other seat that was given to me and it looks like the cheap seat that H~D put on the '02? I'm not sure, but it is fugly...the riders part is ok, comfy for my little butt, but after about 80 miles I'm ready to get off...the passenger part of the seat is what makes it 'fugly'...I only use the Mustang Fastback for short weekend stints...then it comes off.

Perhaps the Mustang Fastback works best with mid controls, I have forward controls and that probably is why numb butt sets in so soon...
Last year I rode down to the SF Bay Area from Portland Or., 660 miles..I had to stop every 50 - 60 miles to relax the cellulite in my calves (using the Mustang Seat)...kidding aside...the ride was ok..I had my feet planted firmly on the ground (5'7") at stops. I rode down to Laughlin Nv. from the bay area using the H~D seat that is the fugly one, it was ok...probably because it hadn't been used much and I noticed that the foam was crushed on the right lower part of the seat next to the tank...I rode back to Portland with the fugly seat and when I drove my truck down to the bay area in July of last year, I was given the optional H~D seat. I will be heading down to the SF Bay Area next month on the 17th and onto Laughlin, this will test weather the H~D seat will hold up...2800 mile round trip.

I run a 2-up seat most of the time for the random one of our kids that wants to ride around town. I like the look of the Badlander and it never really gave me numb butt, but after 200-300 miles my tailbone would get sore from no support. The deeper cut of this one feels more right to me. With the 3 gallon tank, I have to stop fairly frequently which probably helps with the numb part.

My wife recently got a Mustang solo w/backrest for her Nightster and it's comfy as hell, but I just can't get past the thick 'pillow' look. That's the pain with seats, everyone's a different shape/size.

Right now, I just want some warmer weather and a day off work.

That seat looks nice on the bike! I went with the Mustang Tripper solo with the driver backrest... sleek look and still has a backrest.

Thanks Darth. I looked at that one too. Pretty nice setup. Good products in general.

I have the same seat and love it no butt probs or back probs at all, now then again I have a good suspension set up too which probably helps out with the seat too. Butt I swear by mustang lol.

I've put quite a lot of miles on my fastback. No complaints here.
