Default Drag Specialties Classic Spoon Style seat

For about a year I had been thinking about buying new seat for my 09 xl1200c. I was wanting to replace the stock seat with something that had a lower profile and a narrow design down the rear fender. For the longest time it was no money, no money, no money. Then the opportunity present itself, or should I say extra cash.
There was a bit of a limited variety of seats for the 09 sportster unless I wanted to move the ECM, which I was trying to avoid doing. I thought I had the seat company and model figured out, LePera Sihoutte 2-up with a pleat pattern, then I got an estimate. around $620 shipped—Ouch! Every review I read said they were good, but for someone who just had their 3 kiddo, no way I can spend that. I had also been looking at the Drag Specialties Spoon Style seat and the Saddlemen Profiler TTR.
This next stage of the decision is actually what has led me to post this. I tried over and over to find good examples of the seats through online images. Only one I could find for the Drag seat was through online retailers and the only pics of the Saddlemen seat was on their site. I even spent some time photoshoppinf the seats onto a picture of my bike. Price was about $300 for Drag and $325 for Saddlemen. I asked the local H-D a couple times if they could order both for me to see and hold in person and said I'd buy one of them, no go.
Final I got fed up and just went in and ordered the Drag seat.
It took about a week to get it and I am very excited about the choice! And for someone with a limited budget the price was right on!
So here are some pics of the seat(hope they show up, first timer here):
First here are some of the seat on the bike

Here are a few detail shots
main rider area of the seat is 11" wide and a bit under 3" thick

passenger area is 6" wide and a bit under 3" thick as well (around 2.75")

bottom of seat

The sides of the seat are a automotive grade vinyl and the top of the seat is covered in what DS called a solar reflective leather. Seat is firm right now, but it is new and I complete expect it to break in well. I will try to repost in a few months with updates on durability and comfort.

Overall I think this seat was a great buy. Love the look and the price!

That seat look great on your bike!

I've been thinking about getting the same seat for my Sportster. Now that you've had it for a few weeks, can you comment on the comfort? How comfortable is it on multi-hour rides?

Have you taken a passenger on the Spoon seat? If so, how was the passenger comfort?

Thanks man!

I guess I've been riding that seat for about a year now. I really like it. the look of the seat is exactly what I wanted (especially since i wanted to leave the ecm where it was). As far as comfort goes, it's pretty much what I expected. It's not quite as plush as the stock seat with the lower profile and all, but It is still pretty comfortable. I have noticed that from time to time I'll slide back a few inches, but it's never bothered me to just scoot up. It's got a particular spot that's just right and if I scoot back on it a bit I can feel the recessed area of the seat that accommodates for the ecm slightly. Haven't had a passenger on it, but I would think it would be a firm, but good ride.

I had a baby right before I bought the new seat, so the longest I've been out on it since getting it is about 2 hours and I have no complaints. I ride everyday, rain or shine, and it's weathered nicely. I've recommended this seat to people. I'm sure a $500 LePera seat would be more comfortable, but I just can't swing that for a seat. I feel that for the price it is definitely worth it and I can't think of anything negative to say about it.

Let me know if you have anymore questions or want to see any current pics.
