Default Digital speedometer

Anyone have any experience installing one of those universal speedometers from Amazon/ ebay? I've been thinking about getting one, but having trouble finding the plug connectors for the stock speedometer so I can make it plug and play.
I have an 01 1200c and hate the stock location and also want to put shorter risers and mini apes, but keep the speedo on the bars. Other than spending 100+ on the bracket to flip it are there any other options?

This Speeo Connection section of the Sportsterpedia may be of help:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...ter_connectors

Most inexpensive digital speedos use a sensor mounted on one of the wheels to feed a signal for odometer/speed...

This section of the SP shows how the VSS of the stock bike/speedo works:

This page may help you find a connector (you could contact them if they don't show the exact mating connector you want):

Not really cheap, or plug-n-pray but works great. Took me longer to calibrate speed than installing it.

if just adding a feature like tach, maybe just going for one of those add-on mini LED displays would be better than replacing speedo.

HD sells new LED Speedo's to replace stock, but only for 04 and up.

As far as relocating the speedo, I had mine on both sides of my t-bars, as well as mounted off the downtube of the frame on either side. I ended up sticking with on the bars. The cable length stock worked for all positions but I did have to free up some slack from the harness.

I have installed one of the cheap Chinese $35 speedos on my '89. There is no plug and play for that crap. There's a lot of useless wires, and functions that are impossible to figure out how to wire without some electrical engineering degree. But the speedo and the turn signals work. So I don't care.

Relatively expensive, but this Motoscope Mini speedo by Motogadget oozes quality, and works a treat...

I am thinking of just mounting the spare Garmin or TomTom I have not been using for a speedometer when I swap bars. Got an email the other day stating the TomTom model I have will no longer get map updates, it should still be fine for a speedometer, just need to install a handle bar mount and power supply (I may have the mount).
