Default Lifters

Do Sportsters have Lifter problems like the Big Twins?

Not normally a problem on 91-up models as far as I know.
The 86-90 models had the big rollers and bearing failures sometimes.

Three Sportsters, 2000, 2004 and 2006,over 300,000 miles and a total of one tappet failure. I don’t consider it a problem.

I did not think it was a problem on
Sportys! I know Twin Cams recommend changing them every 25k miles!

Twin Cams have a host of cam, lifer and timing chain issues.
BT EVO's fail the front exhaust lifter with a lot of miles.
M8's have some issues too.

The EVO Sportster is the most reliable engine Harley makes!
