Default NJ to NC This Weekend

Probably heading from NJ to Corolla, NC this weekend... Delaware Memorial Bridge to 1 to 113 to 13 to 168 to 158. Leaving NJ between 5 and 6am on Saturday... leaving NC between 8 and 9am on Sunday. Don't have much time to stop and hang out on the way down, because I want to beat the traffic into the Outer Banks, but if you see this bike:

...and you want to ride along or just wave when I go by, feel free. If you're interested in actually meeting up anywhere, let me know here, or PM me. Like I said, the ride back I'm much more flexible on than the ride down...

Anybody near the outer banks in case my bike doesn't start tomorrow... Haha. I'm starting to think the labored starting doesn't have anything to do with the cold weather. It's been okay as long as it's not off the tender for more than one night, but today it's acting pretty stubborn...

Well, I made it... barely. After my first gas stop, I really though she was gonna give up. Probably gonna go grab a battery today...

It was a much easier ride thank I'd expected. I made it there faster than I ever have in the car... 6 hours 51 minutes total with 3 stops... 6 hours and 1 minute moving over 365.8 miles (thanks Google My Tracks for Droid!) I think if I plan the gas stops just right, I can get there with just two stops.

My last semi-long trip I was stopping every 100 miles whether I needed to or not because I needed to get off the bike, but I guess the RK shocks make a pretty big difference, because this time I was just content to run it until it hit reserve.

The way down was definitely nicer, starting out with the highways (295 in NJ and 1 in DE) and spending the rest of the trip on smaller roads. But even the way back wasn't bad... and I did that in 6 hours and 45 minutes because I didn't stop to eat.

My ride was a bit longer 12 hours. When I hit the Jersey parkway it pissed on me the whole ride.
On the way back I had to stop every 100 on the last 300. My arse felt like it was on fire.

I've been playing around with my Google Map created with My Tracks on my Droid, and I finally came up with this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...,13.842773&z=7 (if you click on the endpoint, it has pretty cool stats...)

I guess there's something about Google Maps only being able to show so many points on one line that prevents it from being a really straighforward process... it's a shame because the My Tracks app on the phone is really easy to use. It's just trying to get it to show up right online that's a problem. It'd be cool to just easily put all these ride maps in one place, but since it's such a process to make them work online, it's not worth it...

On another note, I always like zooming in to my stops to see my path. Like this one at Wawa in Milford, DE:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...6,0.00338&z=19
