Default It's on there and not going anywhere

For safety reasons and I like the way it looks. I'll never remove mine. Some people remove theirs to make their bikes look "Custom" or "Badazz". It'll be badazz alright when your belt snaps doing 85 and whacks the s**t out of you

Top and bottom guards removed. In 13 years of riding, I've only had a belt snap once, and that was because the back edge of the upper guard somehow got bent down while the bike was parked in front of a bar, and the guard caused the belt to snap. Factory belts, if properly aligned and tightened, are pretty damn tough. Unless you frequently ride your sporty offroad, you don't really have to worry that much about pebbles and debris breaking belts.
As far as safety goes, c'mon. You're riding a motorcycle. The inherent danger is part of the fun.

Mine are still on. Sporty is undergoing a personality change next year. Want to remove them, but I have a 75 yard gravel driveway...so am not sure what I'll end up doing.

Left mine on. Personally don't like the look of a belt any more than the look of a guard. If I had a chain I might expose it, but to me, belt/guard both ugly so don't matter much.

Have got mine on but have to wonder if they keep stones out or trap them in as I've gone through a few belts.

I suppose the guard could be modified to protect just the foot/ankle of a passenger, but it would probably look a bit odd.
