The rubbemount tank that interest me is listed on Sportsterpedia , the 04-06, 4.5 gallon. The rear mount is underseat vs down. The rubbermount also has a thicker top frame tube.

Im wondering if anyone has adapted that tank successfully?

I been looking for 3 years to find a tank in great condition and painted to match factory paint of my 95 XL Bright victory red sunglo and no body work needs to be done couldn't be happier. Actually the color was easy to find its the pin striping that was the hardest to match

Yes. 2004 4.5 Gal tank off a Custom or a Superlow. Had to cut off rear mounts, put new tabs on the underside and used the quickbob style front mount brackets. it will require some seat nose modifications and angling of the petcock to get it just right too.

I will be posting pics as I go with the fab and mounting stay tuned for more pics. I also found the actual specs for this tank set it is not 5 gallons as the description noted on ebay the total capacity is 4.2 gallons so i will have an additional 1.7 gallons to play with.
