I started to mock up my fat boy tanks today trying to get a bigger picture in my head as to what i will need to complete this mod. right now its clearance issues with the triple tree and throttle cables, here are some pre mod pics.

These split tank are off of a 1994 fat boy a 200.00 find on Ebay

my 1995 XLH 883 DLX stock tank

I have a long ways to go with this project

It's a beautiful tank but I think your handlebars will hit the tank this way. Furthermore I think you wil not use the full capacity of the tank when you mount it that high.

My personal choice would be to relocate the ignition switch and keep the bottom of the tank flush with the line of the air filter. In other words, keep the bottom of the tank more horizontally. In that case you will have the advantage of using the full capacity of the tank.

That looks good, Horizontal and against the seat.

The mock up photo looks absurd (no offense meant)

Thank you! But I do have to be honest and say that this tank is a 3.2 gallon E-Z Bob one piece gas tank which was mounted by a previous owner from North Carolina. I just posted this for reference. Here's what the complete bike looks like:

Finally got the clearance issues figured out front to rear. handle bars clear the tank, triple tree now clears and there is 3/4 inch space between seat and back of tank. Now I will lower the front down to ride parallel with the air cleaner and fab the top mount.

I just received the cast dash and mount plate kit today but there wasn't any installation instructions with it. Does anyone know where I can get instructions for this kit or can assist me with this. I looked online nothing on you tube and nothing in the HD softail manual. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
