Default A Simple Bikers Simple View:..

I am just a simple biker, and I hold simple philosophical views, one of which is that the motorcycle is a perfect metaphor for life itself .. simplified..
On a long trip all your focus is to keep moving forward anything else is just a set back or a novelty..
Moving forward is your only goal and therefore your only focus..
The movin’ forward thing on a bike is easy..
It’s simple, specific and the only way out of the place that you’re at..
The metaphor is obvious but in life it’s much more complicated than that..
The road on a bike is just a simple ribbon of pavement that you need to travel, in life the road isn’t laid out for you in such fundamental form..
It’s a complicated, trying endeavour that isn’t as easily navigated as a stretch of asphalt that you propel yourself down..
Life’s road is vague with misdirection’s, breakdowns and wrong turns not so easily identifiable..
When life gets too convoluted though, hit the road on your bike and stay out there until you figure the rest of it out..
A few weeks on your bike moving forward {or doing what you have to to keep doing so} and your focus tightens, even as the rest of your life falls apart..
However the case, hittin’ the road is the best thing to get your head around the rest of the things that are giving you aneurisms in your normal day in, day out..
I used to consider pullin’ the long miles as an abrupt form of escapism but I recently realized that it just creates an opportunity to strip your psyche of all the bullshit that clutters your normal life and on your return you are equipped with the right tools to see through the fog that inevitably clutters the focus you need to succeed in the life you have once the wheels stop rollin’..
Coz ya see now, miles full of setbacks, bad weather and mechanical calamities bring a new kind of edge, you feel invincible and the things and people that were driving you out of your skull no longer seem as important as when you first lit the fires and set your sites on the horizon..
The miles become your dear friend and mentor..
Life can be unbelievably simple, life on the road makes you realize this..
Y'all don’t need much when the wheels are spinnin’ so why do you need more once they stop??
Life is simple and easy until the moment that I shut down the slow churn and put down the kickstand..
That's the moment when I feel the world crawl right up my xxxxin’ ass.. The life that I left behind is now tangible..
Its tiny barbed fingers clawing to regrab a big piece of my contentment and replace it with frivolous worry and short-sighted problems..
For the next few days I completely lose my mind forgetting all the things I had learned over the miles and worried about what the rest of the world was still considering important..
Society again begins dancing on that brightly lit stage like a stripper with a colostomy bag it tries to drag me in but the smell of bagged shit keeps me from being taken for a sucker..
So I adjust my thought pattern to the way it was when I was behind the bars and just chasin' the horizon everyday just tryin’ to get down the road..
Which is no matter what, take care of the biggest problem that is keepin’ you from moving forward and address the smaller issues as they become important..
If it works on the road it will work in the so called civilized world, just don't let the citizens try and convince you otherwise..

I have spent so many years livin' on the road where I craved for a life made up of makin’ the best of the daily grind..
You know, a house, a nice car and a little money, get treated like a normal workin’ stiff, a wife, a mother, just another blank..
Day in and day out the repetition is the thing I thought keeps you grounded..
Wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night always knowing that the income would be there and your ritualistic goings on would always be unwavering and reliable..
Trouble is/was that I tried it…it didn’t stick…never did...never does...never will....
I think that my life is about as repetitious as it ever will be, but I can’t normal it up, it’s not the way that I’m wired..
Resting stagnant really brings me down, I start looking at how all them ‘straights’ are doing and it just depresses the Hell out of me..
Depression is bad, so I’m doin’ my own thing…it’s either that or a hollow point to the roof of my mouth.
That’s a taste you only enjoy once…I ain’t ready, give me some throttle and a reason to be out there and I’m set.
At my age I’m done having other people tell me how it should be..
I’ve listened for years and everybody has an opinion, tried to teach me life lessons, put in their two cents and adjust my course, the fact of the matter is it’s MY course so now you can just xxxx off!
I started down this path and they don’t have a say if they like it.
Just leave me alone and let me try to make it all work..
My Way....
Right or wrong I am capable of connecting the dots between the birth canal to my big dirt nap..
Everything in between is mine… they were given their time to suck up the air so why don’t they concentrate on that and let me xxxx up any way I want..
My happiness probably ain’t the same as theirs anyway..
I don’t know if there is any rhyme or reason for the things I have done in the past and do in the future but once everybody stops yammering on and on about what I am supposed to do I can kick back, smack dab in the middle of my life and things are pretty cool until somebody tells me it sucks,
I’m done listening.....
I like what it looks like from the inside looking out and if they don’t then they can stop hangin’ their dirty socks on my tree and try smellin’ them for themselves..
What I have created is a slow moving train wreck that falls off the tracks every now and again but it always seems to start moving with adjustments..
It ain’t perfect but chances have been taken and hassles came up but overall it hasn’t been a bad trip if y'all would just stop telling me otherwise..
It seems that I have had a lifetime of never having a realistic view of life..
How can that be??
If you spend a lifetime doing the unrealistic doesn’t that make it realistic??
What the xxxx is an unrealistic view of life??
Get a job, marry someone out of obligation, raise a couple of kids and then die having your offspring describe you as an unhappy old bitch??
Sounds pretty shitty to me, but then again I’m unrealistic..
At this point the thing I qualify as a good life is ridiculously simple..
I own little, require less and if left alone I am content..
However if I did follow the advice I have turned a deaf ear to years ago I would have lost that whole acceptable existence and wound up here just the same..
That scenario would make what I have horrible instead of a situation that makes me smile in its lack of complications..
I just climbed the ladder to success high enough to make me happy, not climbing it in the pursuit of something more..
How much do you really need??
I have on more then one occasion been asked, “…what made you decide to give it all up for what you have now?”
Give it all up, I never had it and that made all the difference..
I live this way because I love what I do, to gain anymore of lifes creature comforts I would have to turn my back on the things that I love.. Mainly writing, my music and riding my bike whenever I want and for as long as I want as long as my basic necessities are met..
But then again my life is nothing but the basic necessities..
I survived the winter an the followin' summer in a shit-show and came out the other side in better shape than when I first fell into it.. ahhh, such is home..
My bike is all runnin’ hard and ready to go..
The dream is still hangin’ on..
My health is pretty good and the cats are happy, well, as happy as cats can be..
So I’m just sittin’ on the stoop waterin’ my lawn and thinkin’ about just bein’ a gal with a sleeping bag, ridin’ her bike this summer..
It feels good and I’m as happy as I have ever been..
Today it feels like I know what I am doin’..
This is the shit that dreams are made of..
You now can go back to eating shit and dying..

Nobody can make you happy... only you can be happy.
You can be happy with someone, if you are both happy.
None can control you, and you can't control anyone else.
No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
You don't have to eat crap, unless you want to.
You can't get screwed, unless you assume the position.
It took me some time to understand this.

Well, uh yeah.

Nothing beats the monotony, the droning on of the open road, mile after mile, fence post after fence post. It's absolutely the best way to get inside your own head, where all the great mysteries in life reside.

Have you come face to face with yourself lately? If not, it's time to get back out there, have a chat with that clown that always seems to be sharing computer time in your brain.

Try to never have a destination, because; once you get there it's over.

Looks like you haven't posted a lot over the last 6 years. Hopefully that is because you are out there doing it. If not, you should maybe post more. After all, many of us in here share your instability

People that have met me know me for simplicity mixed with chaos.
No complaint here while being a kept biker.
Digs and feed are for sure.
Plus my girl is easy on the eyes

Free time is mine. With a few daily chores < feed and water dogs >.
Gypsy rider/Paul had no complaints I know of when breakfast was biscuits and gravy.
My shop is open to all. As is my time.

I dig your lfe style choices also. Sounds sensible to this creaky old scooter tramp.
Trades were as high as I climbed when punching a time clock and raising kids.
Worked out fine and dandy so far.

Just gotta add that time spent with that Russian/Texan scooter tramp is and will never be ordinary. Shit happens and it gets dealt with, simple, and move on. Thank you, and Harry cyber hugs to you and the lovely Holly. From your BFAM!

Just re read and I see why you didn't post in all that time since 2013.

That sucks, but again, I like your attitude. Sounds like you are doing just fine. Carry on.

Like it. I'm 62 in 2 weeks.I ache all over with rhematoid arthritis, shoulder rotoator cuff pain, sciatica and sometimes walk with a stick.
When I take the bike out I'm 19 again, even short rides doing errands.

Angel; I enjoy your writing, but one thing is bothering me. How do you have a 1981 XLCH? '79 was the last year of the CH and they only made 141 of them. I know, because I owned one.
