Low price and after rejetting the dealer said as far as power is concerned it would get 80% there.

Leo at Frantic Custom Cycles has some slip-on drag pipes that are great for the price. Loud but great. It takes a light hand to keep them quiet. If I don't care, I set off alarms and have cops following me everywhere. And that is with the baffles in!!!

I've got SE SPs. I wanted something louder than stock but not as loud as, say, V&H or Cycle Shacks. The Street Performance mufflers are just right.

Default StraightShots HS Slipons

Going to attempt to install V & H StraightShots HS SLipons on my 07' 1200L. Could you guys discuss some tips/suggestions on the install? Very much a novice at this but I'm pretty determined. Thanks.

Here are some random thoughts / tips.

1. Use PLENTY of WD-40 to get the old ones off. They might take some time, so be prepared and patient. Some slip right off, some take a little effort. Yours should be OK since the bike is so new.

2. Use PLENTY of Windex on the new ones AND the Heat Shields when you are done and before you start the motor. It will prevent your WD-40 laden finger prints from becoming permanently burned into your chrome.

3. Spend the $3.00 on new exhaust gaskets. Have them on hand at the beginning of the install. I ended up stopping to run to the Stealer for some.

4. If your new slip-ons do not come with new mounting bolts, go buy some new ones at the hardware store. They get really cruddy and you might strip the heads getting them off.

5. Don't buy new clamps. Re-use the old ones. I don't know why they say you can't re-use the old ones.

6. Be careful tightening the clamps on the heat shields. I broke one and had to run to the hardware store for another clamp. Just a pain in the a$$, not a big deal.

Good luck. It really isn't hard.

BTW, I did mine on an '06 so there were no O2 sensors. Be careful you don't move things too much to break / stress / bugger up the O2 sensors.

MCM Chrome 2" Slip on Drag Pipes, from Frantic Custom Cycles. Great sound, great price, and Leo is a supporting vendor. Also, because they have removable baffles, I get to play around with the sound.

Here's a link to Frantic Custom Cycles.

Here's a sound clip before I got rid of the fiberglass packing around the baffles.

Cycleshack. $45 on ebay and a higher top end.

It seemed to me that different slipons really weren't much different. More restrictive versus less restrictive. The cycleshacks reduced restriction and I found a used pair listed on ebay for cheap.
