You might have fried the module....which is why daytonasportster and others suggest the diodes as it will prevent it from doing that.

Is this a mod for those on classics/roadsters/huggers wanting to delete their tail light and have the two turn signals function as brake/run/turn signals?

or would this effectively add running/brake effects to the turn signals if the tail light is left on (which I would be interested in) especially if it could modulate the left and right blinker lights the same way the "back off" lights do.

Hey Cosmo,

Just wanted to let you know as usual a little searching on the XLForum saved me!

I internally wired my bars and absolutely could not get the pins out of the "amp multilock" connectors. I have the manual and read the directions but it was no help. I had to add extra wire anyway so I cut them.

Anyway I didn't want too many solder joints or to reuse the connector so I used your part numbers below for the parts! The dealership had the connectors and pins, and to my surprise I was able to get a service tech to crimp them on to my wire! I still have to connect back to the turn signals but I am going to use basic crimp on connectors for those connections.

A D.I.Y. brake/run/turn module has come up on the XLF a few times and it was something I wanted to try and understand. I also promised a fellow XLFer that I would design and build a unit and they volunteered as my (New) guinea pig to test the unit long term.

I never really asked or figured out if this setup cancelled itself if say, the left turn was on and you hit the momentary switch on the right side, or if it was a flash till you hit the button again. I think an arduino setup could be programmed to do that and more. Now that I have this 1989, I remember how frustrating the old turn signals were on my Ironheads. Holding the button to make it flash is just stupid.
