Default Battery?

My battery is about 4 years old and giving me trouble, bought the bike about 4 years ago, had starting problems then, bought new battery, fixed the gnd. lug on engine, worked ok, still had an occasional clunk when trying to start, well now I get a clunk, and 7 volts at the battery. Time for a new batt., just wondering what batterys you guys use? It has a HD batt. in it now, just wondering if there are better batterys out there, say maybe napa? this is for a 2005 1200c sportster. thanks, chuck

Here's the Sportsterpedia section on Batteries:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/techtalk:ref:elec03

I'm sure someone will come along and tell you only the HD batteries are good - but I've had good luck with the 'Magna Power' models available at Pep Boys (and other places)... You can look at the list of models made by EPM Products out of Baltimore, MD as a subsidiary of East Penn Manufacturing.

Been using YUASA for years with zero problems... the one in my BT is six years old and keeps going strong as new.

PS. I use a tender on them.

I have a Shorai lithium battery since 1/4/2014. Weighs about 2lb.

Never had a battery last more than two years, with even the best of care. This year I bit the bullet and got a lithium one. We'll see how it goes.
