I am the same, I made a rule not to go out below 10c any more. Plus, my HD runs cool with all that synthetic goodness, so it takes ages to warm up in the cold.

Heated gear is the best thing I ever bought for myself. No matter how much cold you can endure in the ride and still enjoy it, with the heated gear you can ride in colder temp and extend your riding weather.

Perhaps you missed the point. I've done that crazy sh*t when I was young - using my full race Norton on icy roads, crashing, getting back on........
with age comes wisdom............. and you realise that when it's cold, that is the time to take the car!

for the hijack.

Yep, that's me. And I don't like a windshield on my Sporty and I dont wear a helmet either. Windshield won't fit now anyway with the way my speedo is mounted. It's not sticking up as much as most that have gotten rid of the stock set up. It lays a little flatter.

You are ;p Not as nuts as this old f'k here on his trike tho. Saw him several times during blizzards. That's crazy.

Wow. That was quick. Bought it on Amazon, free prime shipping and they next day aired it to me.

Haha, too late. Opened the box already. It is a pretty bottle tho.
Since the STL is somewhat new, I guess I'll be the guinea pig. Tho I think in this case the synthetic probably will be better.
I guess Rocketmangb put it in his primary too but hasn't ridden since. I'll post back with what I find. Honestly, I'm quite optimistic.

Incidentally, I noticed you are upgrading your suspension. I have 444s and Ricor Intiminators. Well worth doing.

IMHO there are better fork oils available for the Intiminators than the recommended Amsoil. It has a low VI for fork oil.
The forks become over-damped in cool weather in my experience. Go by the specified Cst @ 40C of the oil not the claimed
SAE which varies too much between brands. I use Silkolene RSF pro 2.5 now. It matches Amsoil's Cst at 40c but maintains
a much flatter viscosity, as it has twice the VI! In fact it should be more viscous beyond 40c. The result is very good damping in
all conditions.
https://www.silkolene.com/motorcycle...luids/rsf-2-5/

Oh, I should add that it is advisable to rebuild the forks when you fit them. You won't believe the crud that builds up over the years.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips. Now if they would just ship them already. Ordered them a week ago. Still says processing. Intiminators that is.
I was going to go with ohlins in the rear but with all the $$$ I've spent on the bike already the past 2 months, went with the 440s. Since they came out with the 444s and discontinued the 440s, I got them for $330 online at a place just 50 miles from here that sell NOS parts.

I haven't tallied it up but it's in the neighborhood of $2000 I've stuck in it this winter.
