Default New LED headlight bulb. Highbeam aim wrong.

Looking for some help here guys. I have a 2000 XL and my buddy has a 2004. We both picked up LED replacement bulbs from Hogworkz at bike week and got them stuck in. Despite the fitment being a bit tight, they fit and are bright as hell. I had to aim mine a little, but both turned out great. The problem came when we tried out the high beam. They light up the trees way more than the road.

It looks like you can adjust the bulb out some (makes it stick out in the reflector less). Is that the correct way to fix this or am I missing something?

I did that already. I had to aim it a little to get my low beam correct, but the high beam is still way too high. It's like the difference between them is too much angle. To adjust my high beam down to where it needs to be my low beam would be aimed at the ground.

If you mean a replacement H4 LED bulbs for tungsten filament H4, then that is probably your problem.
The LED light source is not in the same place as a filament, so the beam pattern can suffer from excess glare.
That is why is safer to fit a complete LED headlight unit as it will have the correct beam pattern.

I don't remember how or where, but I vaguely remember someone having to do mods to rotate the bulb 180 degrees

Yes, a full light would be way better, but that's $35 vs $200. Figured this was good enough for now. There's a slot to move the bulb in and out of the housing, I'll see if I can find a good way to measure the old bulb depth vs the new LED and see if I can get it close to the same. I'll try to remember to take some pictures and throw them up when I pull it back apart.

This bulb has slots to mount it either way, but if you flip it 180, the high beam is aimed down. So that's not right either.

There are various lower cost/cloned LED headlight units available now - probably a better option.

No, not $35 vs $200...more like $35 vs. $40

Thanks, but I trust a $40 full headlight about as far as I can throw my bike.

I have the bulb, it's what i'm using for now, just trying to get it aimed right.

F.W.I.W. while at "BKB's" we had a chance to compare his $40 Winsamic LED headlight to my way more expensive HD Daymaker. Using the back of his overhead garage door I was obvious that both bulbs were close in performance. The HD was a bit stronger with a wee bit better beam. Brian seldom runs at night while there are times I run all night. The slight improvement is good for me a and had it not been for the Insurance company buying mine I may have gone the less expensive rout.
