I have already done everything you have written about except actually change the bar out. (I'm running the original bars with the 2 inch black risers and black speedo house right now)

All the cables are fine, just lengthen the wires eh? That rocks. I was putting it off, because I figured I'd need new cables.

Vegas, are those black mirrors the short stem or the long stem?

I got the mirrors off ebay, I think they were stock off a Night Train. They are exactly the same as the stock ones as far as shape and size.

I am planning on getting a new brake line now that I've found out that I can get a black braided line. I'll probably end up getting new idle/throttle cables but only because I want new grips (the chrome plated plastic is wearing off these and looks very cheap) and I think if I pull the cables one more time they will snap. I've had them off so many times that one of the strands has broken off already. My clutch cable isn't an issue anymore but the stock one would have stayed as it is not a problem at all.

Looks good, Vegas. I've got 12" apes with the stock custom riser right now. I love the feel, but not crazy about the looks with the curved riser. Next winter, I think I'll convert it to 1.5 risers and switch the 12" apes for 16" or 18" apes.

Loki, Do you have any pictures? I was thinking about putting mini-apes and was wondering what it would look like with stock risers.

Also, anyone know how to switch from 2 cable throttle to single cable?

Cheers!

Sweet looking bike. First thing that caught my eye was the black lever(s). Don't know why but they sure get my attention. Sure is different... in a good way!!!

Looks great......the profile shot really put it into perspective for me. The black mirrors were an excellent choice. Red and black..... a great combination.

Thanks everyone. I know when I started the project there wasn't much info here about swapping the risers. Someone had an old pic from a member that had left that didn't really show the riser well. I tried some springer risers to see if the bolts would match up to the speedo cap and that was way off. Luckily I got my money back on ebay for that one. I was trying to recover enough for knee surgery at the time so I couldn't ride anyway making it a good time for a project. Workers Comp pays a lot less than what I was used to so I had to do it on the cheap. Almost everything there was off ebay for a bargin or built myself.

The levers are stock that I painted by the way. I saw a couple members with theirs and had to have them. I got the mirrors cause when I saw their black levers I thought "they need more black".

I've got a couple mods in the works. My new highway peg mounts are almost done and we have the base for a luggage rack done. I need to hurry up though cause I'm hoping to use it on a trip down to Hemet, CA in a couple weeks.

Great pics & love the gear change!

These mini-apes seem to be getting popular now!
