One thing you can’t deny is a large inventory of used Sportsters with low prices
Even though the Sportster might be the most reliable durable model it’s hard to sell new ones with so many cheap used ones around.
I’m like most of you, I like a nice carbed Rubbermount. It’s just a satisfying ride, and an acquired taste I guess. I don’t know what the younger guys want, many don’t even want a car.
I believe HD has a secret project at least in planning stage for the Sportster, if they just gave up on the line that would be a shock

If they stop making them there will still be plenty of clone sources to fill the gap. Harley needs to rationalize their products and cut costs if they want to survive in the long run. If a water cooled Sportster re-design would not be cost effective, then I guess they would need to pull the plug on that product line.

I do think they make a big mistake in dropping the Dyna en masse last year. There should have been a 2-3 year transition to get people used to it and feel out where the market was. After all, the FXR which it replaced; was not removed in one model year either.
