Yes they do and also management who actually cares about motorcycling sports and wants to win.

Or H-D needs to revert back to the old "engine program". The XG750 is a piece of sh!t joke. The factory team ran XGs last year and never podium'd once. Meanwhile Sammy Halbert won the X-games flat track on an XR-750. The only Harley podium in AFT was a privateer riding his XR at the Texas 1/2 mile. With a few no-brainer updates the XR could easily once again reign supreme in flat track. Instead H-D is throwing its history of dominance of the sport down the toilet just to sell a few more of its failed "StReEt" 750.

Jake Johnson finished third on the podium at the Buffalo Chip TT on the XG. The AMA was trying to bring the cost of racing down and Indian showed up with a full blown race engine. It was totally in the rules. Next year they have to use a production based engine.

This year the Harley has new heads and barrels. The TT is tricky I am waiting to see after the first half mile. Keep in mind the XR fell on it's face it's first two years 70-71 until they did the head and barrel update in 72.

I thought Henry Wiles was privateering on the Indian this year as well.

Yes, I forgot about buffalo chip. Michael Martin compiled the following spreadsheet last season. It illustrates my point above.

The preceding quote was pretty well the dominate (if not universal) opinion in the flat track world a year ago as we all waited for Daytona, and for the seven months afterward.

This year, as we all wait for Daytona... and the next eight months, I for one am anxious to see what the XG has this year!

Keeping in mind AFT's rule change benefitting "production based" engines, together with the fact that the XR is after all, a race-only engine like the FTR.

Hmmm, maybe, just maybe Harley's big mistake of putting all their apples in the XG basket just might bear fruit after all. Only time will tell.

J.D. Beach was pretty fast at Daytona last year. and there were a lot of fast Kawasakis there, as well. I hope that the rules changes make the field more competitive and that the Indians get smoked. Their "Professional Ethics" disgust me.
