Those are the ones that you want! They are the very best, the Kraft Techs that i referred to in a previous post.

A good buddy here has them on his 1974 with no modifications. Here they are on my 1978 - i made a few mods [Evo shift lever, lowered brake peg, new hole for brake lever, etc] ...

Excellent! They kinda look like they'll hit my exhaust, but on yours I see they clear behind the pipe instead of in front like the daniel boone kit. Should I expect the same fit even though I've got the right side shift?

Thanks for the attention as I search for these things!

Yes. They fit my buddies 1974 perfectly, and your 1971 should be the same. Note that mine are a different part number for the left side shift.

Well narleychoppers.com says these forward controls are out of stock. I just stumbled across Debrix.com which lists a bunch of kits. Here are the ones for the 1957-1974 Sportster starting from the cheapest and going up:

http://www.debrix.com/Wild-Rider-For.../47-304-mw.htm

http://www.debrix.com/Steel-USA-Forw...p/44083-k1.htm

http://www.debrix.com/Forward-Contro...22-0700-vt.htm

http://www.debrix.com/Forward-Contro...p/45861-m1.htm

http://www.debrix.com/Forward-Contro...p/45822-m1.htm

The last two look identical to me and real close to the second link I listed. This makes me think they will also be out of stock because the last one indicates it is out of stock. I don't think they are the daniel boone type. If they appear to be the Kraft tech (or of similar quality) I may try to order them and see what I find out. Here is the page where they are all listed on Debrix.com:

http://www.debrix.com/SearchResults.asp

Sorry about all the links.

they work if you can weld. and move the foot pegs(drill a hole). and do alittle garage mods...

look up boone forward control fix you might find something..

i have them.. modified them(took a few hours to get everything right) but they work great now.... just takes some time to set them up.
