Exclamation putting on forward controls and need some help

I'm trying to put custom chrome o-ring style part #49-0412 on my 1988 xlh. I've got a couple of problems. On the right side i took off the brake lever and old foot peg but how do I get the part they were attached to off. It looks sort of like a bullet with a hole in the end. And on the left side how do i get the stud that the foot peg and its bracket were bolted to off?
thanks

On the right side, you'll have to remove the front sprocket.
To do it, remove your both mufflers and untighten the rear cylinder pipe.
That way you'll be able to remove the rear brake pedal clevis and rings.
Their's a big nut with a pin inside the cover.
