You can run up to a 110 on the stock rim.

You need at least a 3" rim to run a 120. It will fit though, without a fender.

On the back a 16x150 tire will fit under the fender, and on the stock rim. Some brands of 160 might even fit, but they're going to be really close to the fender.

Default D401, MH90-21-54H: can I go wider?

How wide a tire can I put on the front of my XL883C, 2005?
Without changing rim because I assume a new rim would be costly.
Laced 21" rim is 3 inches wide O.D., Outside width using measuring tape, not caliper.
Current tire original HD Dunlop D402F, MH90-21 -54H: tire width 86mm with measuring tape (not caliper)
Distance fork to fork is 5" (127mm).
Installing new Commander II's front and back.
Looking to widen to get bit more stability, stickiness. Or will upsizing degrade behavior (I mean bike behavior not mine).
