For those of you who change your own tires, some questions about reseating beads:
- What type of bead lube?
- What pressure?
- What size air-compressor tank?
- What diameter hose?

What type of bead lube?

I use the gel that NoMar sells.

What pressure?

40 PSI in the back tire, 32 PSI in the front.

What size air-compressor tank?

I think it's about 8 or 10 gallons

What diameter hose?

Damned it I know. it looks like old, red rubber commercial air hose ('cause that's what it is).

I've cornered the market. I offer free mounting and balancing on all my friends bikes and even free used tires.

I mount and balance my own. I have a No-Mar Classic tire changer with the hitch mount and a receiver hitch welded to one leg of my welding bench to attach it to when it's not nice enough outside to use my vans' trailer hitch.

I've not read the whole thread but I thought this might be of interest.
Just built my own bead breaker which i copied from a friend's design. I've borrowed his before and it makes light work of the job.

What type of bead lube?

NAPA tire mounting lubricant or RuGlyde.

What pressure?

Whatever it takes to seat the bead. Usually only 40-50psi is needed. Have had some stubborn ones take 90+

What size air-compressor tank?

30gal

What diameter hose?

Inflator hose is 1/4" air hose. Rarely need to switch to the 3/8" hose.
