Thanks much for the Sportsterpedia, very helpful...anyway found an error on the section for changes for the 2008 model year in the general history page at http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/s...istory:99xx-01, it states that hollow axles were introduced and that the front is 1" diameter. 2008+ axles are 25mm front and rear.
The 2008 specific page does has the correct 25mm specs.

Thanks for bringing this up Bluto.

We've gotten a lot of information on the main Evo Wheels page http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...k:evo:wheels01 but haven't gotten back around to updating the history section from it.

I have updated the 2000, 2005 and 2008 history sections to include some of the axle and bearing changes as listed on the wheels page. There is still some research to do however and we appreciate you flagging that.

I have some really clear pictures of the primary on my hard mount 2001 XL 1200. Got pictures of pulling the clutch and changing the primary chain and sprockets. I have them reduced to a size that fits the forum, but I also have the originals in like 4,000 pixels wide or something.

You can use them if they will help. I did the work and I took the pictures.

I put a Barnett Scorpion clutch in it. Got pictures of that too if you need. I will have to look for them, but I know I have the full size original pictures on my external hard drive.

I wish I had taken pics when I swapped to Energy One but I got greedy.. and was in a hurry to get my bike running.

Not to get off topic but I'm doing the energy one off season and i considered the scorpion but figured it was overkill for a street bike. What do you think of it? Is it worth the extra $$$? How's the pull?

I am running that Scorpion on a trike with a Ford truck rear axle under it. Made a lot of difference. I run a lot of miles on them too. Pull and release much smoother and it pulls just fine.

Ahh, well that's another story. Definitely worth putting in that.
And THAT is an awesome trike. Very nice indeed!
A guy I know in Madison, WI use to build some nice trikes so I've seen a lot of them and that is nice.
The guy I'm talking about is the same guy that designed/built and held the patent on the BOSS HOG til he lost everything to drugs, drinking, and loose women including my ex. lol
A true dirtbag indeed. But that V8 on a bike was some scary ass sh!+ and took some genius ingenuity.

Always liked the springers.
