Default Gauge disassembly

Is it possible to pull this apart? I need to get in and clean behind the glass. Might even need a new face

The bezel is pressed onto the housing.
Some say it's better to leave it alone unless you have a spare piece of glass as it may break the glass removing it.
If you do, we want pics?

I’m going to try to figure out something. It’s filthy, and there are some parts rattling around in there so I’m going to have to pull it apart. I only paid 40 for that plus the mounting bracket so I can take a chance

I think I’ll try hitting it with the heat gun and yanking on it

All I've found so far are a couple pics from XLF member petesponies.

You may break the glass if using a screwdriver under the bezel to pry.
I think his glass was already broken though.

Hard plastic is friendlier on glass or a teflon bar.

I pulled apart a old ironhead one < ages ago > to change the glass. Hard part was re - crimping without breakage. Plus leaving no marks of re- crimping.

Channel locks and vice grips have teeth. I have some plastic slip on jaws for that though. Now. I just buy replacement guages.

I am one for two on this, go slow and be careful, a glassier can get you new glass.

haven't look at one in awhile but
it used to be that the ring was put on and then the bottom was rolled to wedge the ring against the seal. if this is the case, it would have to be pried off. it is possible but might not be as pretty going back on.
