Aron told me the 560 impact need 10.5 so thats what we set up my motor at, I run close to 1.9 intake but it's not quite that size & stock size exhaust valves late style heads. & hammer billet manifold for se cv44 but carb a bobby wood Rebel cv43.5 = a SE CV44 with a 43.5 Venturi , I've used it on three different Harleys & my M2 carb Buell. I like it as every time you open throttle up it pull no hesitation & under load. just have to check AFR under load on my friends DJ 250i I have plenty of jets as it uses Holley main jets.
just have to see what AFR at low rev & high rev under load looks like.
but it felt beautiful on all my other Harley's I have used it on. & the Buell, strange as I had it on a strong runing Twin Cam 95" dyna & bolted it with a s&s sporty G manifold plus made adaptor & it worked perfect on the 1200 Buell thunderstorm ( just had piston hight in bore adjusted ) d&d Buell system

should be riding her home ( 200 mile 320km ) next week. weather sort of hot here but not too bad down the coast.
I have wanted an 88" sporty or Buell for a long time. not sure how the pipes I have will work or how close carb is dialled in but will have a safe tune. will worry about the pipes after I get miles up.

Nice one, keen to hear how it goes. I use the stock header and crossover with krome werks slip ons. Sounds and looks right I reckon. Probably not the best for power but it's still plenty strong.

thank's Splineman, will let you know. I'm not sure what make the system I have, but its almost new, made in USA two one piece so no cross over & tapered ends. the silencer looks restrictive to me. but in the vid my friend sent. sounds ok he said run's ok. friend wants me to stay at his place a few days and ride bike about 200 mile so he can check it all out , before riding home. I'm happy with that. also that will give me time to check the new fork and shock set up and can ride to the guy who did the set up to get him to check it's right. I would have just used stock headers & slip on's but was given this system.

well have my bike home.

it was extremely hot in Sydney about 40c , so as bike no miles but lot of heat cycles and my friend had ridden around block. but he was extremely busy with work. I stayed with him and his wife three days, each day riding short distance stop to cool keeping rev's below 3,000 to wear pistons in. lucky the hot weather only lasted the first day next day nice and not too hot. friend fine tuned checking plugs made sure had enough fuel & less aggressive timing. we did a cranking pressure test 220 pound, it's 10.5 as cced chambers worked out with piston at 40 thou swish ( Flat tops ). surprising no ping. pull's that strong & smooth 2,300 to 3,000. idles so smooth, starts easy ( just feel starter work when motor hot ) but I just give quick short touches of starter button and starts quick. had to ride 200 miles home weather was really nice cool sea breeze on way home 22c. ik stopped 4 times visited friends on way home, so I got to cool off each time. have not got over 3,000 as careful to wear pistons in first. no leaks & best of all 74MPG using Bobby Wood Rebel 43.5 CV carb.
it is an electric motor! I will do another 150 miles tomorrow. I think I'll need to hold tight when I do rev past 3,000.
it is beautiful to ride as pull's so smooth not & unfussed. the duel pipes I have looked to be restrictive to me could be Chrome Werkz they are nice solid & chrome nice. sound nice. just have to wait till it's really to rev higher see how they go.
my friend done a great job on the gear box it shifts quick & smooth & positive. has many years experience with Harley gear box's for drag racing. said would not do one for anyone as had to take so much time on mine being careful as for street.
very happy!!

Hey Splineman thank's. I think I ride a style like yourself when I'm on the street.
also I got to ride my friends new Milwaukee 8 low rider 107 was bone stock 500km on it, he said ride where you like. could feel the torque but it idled a bit rough compared to my sporty, also was heavy & cumbersome . he has cnc heads to put on & a red shift cam & slip on mufflers. he also owns a DJ 250i and knows how to map ride by wire. so will be good to ride it after he set's it up. still as it was my sporty feels as responsive at 2000 to 3,000 & a lot nicer idle and sporty just so much more fun as is and only raving to 3,000. everyone said that sounds like a big twin not a sporty.

Yeah my riding mate also traded his Twinkie for an M8 Sport Glide. Nice bike, 300 kg!! but is pretty low weight so feels ok.
My sportster has much better acceleration and way better throttle response but the M8 is a nice bike.
I have Krome Werks slip ons sound great, no idea if they rob power, don't really care as they look the part and my bike has plenty of grunt for the rubbermount chassis haha.
Does your bike idle smooth? Mine rocks around a bit at idle smooth as 3-4k revs tho. Love it!
These big sportsters sound and ride great and I agree they sound better than the new stock M8 that frankly sound poos.
One thing though the extra power highlights any handling issues you may have.

Mine idles very smooth, but know what you mean about Rubber mount and motor shaking around. as I have a Buell M2 Cyclone has 92HP on dj250i 78TQ
Buell has light flywheels and seems to feel rough at idle & every time touch throttle it burst into life sudden, but a pain to ride in traffic as have to change gear all the time.
I also owned an old big twin shovel 1970's , it had S&S sidewinder 98 cubic inch motor S&S D carb was kick start only it had light flywheels too ( it is still going strong ) I got to notice needed to shift down a gear more with the light fly wheels.
then two years back I flew to Cairns far North Queensland , bought this sporty off a Lady up there was like new low miles 03 xlh1200 just stock headers slip on mufflers. I road it home and had to ride some dirt tracks visiting friends on trip home. I got to love how it felt, not as fussy as the Buell, Buell is a hard bike to ride on dirt tracks!! this bike is easy to ride dirt tracks.
so I wanted to keep those stock heavy XL pressed pin flywheels, got a guy here in Australia knows his stuff and is set up to do pressed pin Harley flywheels and balance. I thought as this is rigid mounted motor need to balance, & had my old Shovel dynamically balanced & balance factor changed to low 50%. and I used to rev that old girl hard! she still runs hard goes everywhere a friend owns her and fitted a 6 speed gear box.
well as I knew stock balance factor 60% but I think twin cam's changed to 52%, I had a twin cam and it was smooth ( dyna ) so told Guy check bearings and pin & rod's & change balance factor to low 50%, when he pulled apart bearings and pin like new, but big end of rods like an egg, so he resized rods got perfect , balanced and trued and welded crank pin. this guy high standard of workmanship. knows Harleys too.
well motor feels smooth but only rev to 3,000 at this stage to wear piston's into the bore. I'm sure when I rev it 6,000 I'll feel the vib's ( it's a Harley!! )
