the video on the supertrapp website says for the 4 inch "open end cap flows for about 10-12 discs"

does that mean that if you were running say 20 discs with the closed cap that you could use the open cap instead and run 8-10? am i understanding this correctly?
Yup. Like paul said above you are correct on that. 1 open ended end cap is equivalent to 8-10 disks so according to Supertrapp my pipe should perform the same way as it does now with 20 disks and the open end cap as it would with 28-30 discs and a closed end cap.

There is even an adjustable end cap that you can open and close to make more adjustments with.

i went with the $100 Super Trapp. Had to grind down my brake pedal, and the front foot pegs don't work with it. I will report once break in is complete.

22 discs on the supertrapp and ended up using a closed end cap. more quiet than i would like, but 110 hp and 90 tq, so i won't complain. I now have supertrapp tuneable disc 2:1 pipes on my street glide and sportster. I dont think you can go wrong with that pipe.
