Default 1993 VIN info request

Probably no one able to help and I can sort it myself this weekend...but trying to do some 'parts ordering' research now.

I just bought a 1993 Sportster
only 2504 miles on her, but been kept in damp conditions..chrome and alloy very bad condition. but only paid £1500..so probably about $2000 USD?

Any way, I can't enter the Vin in to any parts search pages as the bloke has copied it wrong .

Got most of it..but he has made mistakes.

Just wonder if some one can supply me with a VIN that will work one a site search for parts

This is what I have

1H0 4 CA M 1 X P 4 696969

I have changed the last 6 digits.

OK so the first bit has to be 1HD4 not 1H04

but the 1XP4 is wrong if I read the VIN decode pages correctly.

Anyone give me a clue to what might work instead of 1XP4

guessing it should be something like
12PY or YP..but anythgin I try does not work. Tried 0-9 in the 'Check digit section' but not getting any luck.

Weird request..but worth a try

Ah..one bit on there is helpful Ye. the 'Check Digit' on all other sites says it can only be 0-9..that page shows it as possibly being an X...so maybe my VIN with the X in that position is correct.

Yes, bingo..the
production plant was 'Y'
the seller of the bike had read it as a 4.

i had tried swapping there 'X' in the check digit section for a number..

The harley VIN page
https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson.com/sip/vehicle
now come sup with a good VIN.

it does not show it as a Hugger..XLH..but the VIN indicates it is

Thanks

Also just found out that XLH does not mean it is a Hugger.

Through the H was a Hugger..but seems there can be an XLH883 and an XLH883Hugger

Would this be a Hugger?

Isn't "J" a '91?

No, not in Jersey.

All vehicles in Jersey have a registration starting 'J' and now a few with JSY

Our Reg plates do not show the vehicle age in any way.

All of them are XLH models.
As you've found out, the CA is an XLH 883.
If the engine hasn't been swapped out, that same letter code will be on the frame.
The engine ID is a shortened version of the frame ID.

According to the logbook, engine number does match the VIN.

Sine the bike has only had two owners before me..and the last owner had it for only a few months..previosu owner had it since new..only 2504 miles on it.

No reason to believe anything has been swapped on it.

Owner apparently had cancer
