Khromewerks had an earlier version of slip on call the AR100. The newer HP Plus is similar to that pic but with a more open baffle in the middle that changes size with what resembles golf balls with holes.

That level of change is not what I had in mind. The change there kills off the baffle and goes to solid pipe while trying to get the butterfly out. I can’t imagine that helps performance any, though I didn’t see any numbers for the mod.

And yes, the factory exhaust, once uncorked from the emissions compliant mufflers, is very capable if finished properly. Of course, a well designed 2:1 should be capable of equaling it, as shown by the Defender. I don’t think it’s that you can’t make a 2:1 work, rather the designers aren’t pulling it off, whether that be due to aesthetics being paramount, or lack of knowledge in doing so. Pipe builders have pulled a few different mufflers out when the freedom to do anything is taken away and they are restricted to making the space they have to work in perform well.

My curiosity with something like these “muffler“ designs, is whether it would allow for a 2:1 (or even true duals) to perform better than they do without having that perfect blend of lengths and baked in anti reversion elements like header steps, assuming reversion is the issue. Cones and lollipops have numbers associated with them in multiple designs, and they have their places, but both have drawbacks. As mentioned, both sit too close to an end to be ideal.

However, I still am left wondering if something close to “perfect” would be as great with only that butterfly valve omitted, zero other changes. If it has zero effect, great, if not, then any design using those dimensions for a new pipe needs to have an obstruction of some sort to provide a similar effect. Of course, if it does have an effect, the ideal pipe would have different dimensions in order to avoid the use of such an internal device.

And I'm supposed to know you're posting that for reference... how? Especially when rather than post just a relevant picture, or include any text at all, you throw up a full quote about a mod to the muffler assembly

Huh, those are oddball pipes. Looks like there's one at the heads and one after the collector... then they stuff more A/R stuff in the muffler. Wonder how that thing actually runs.

The design of their Sportster pipe looks like it would be fairly easy to stuff one in there if you wanted to though. There's a lot of pipe between that collector and muffler

I’ve thought about it. I’ve had that pipe for 2 years now and low end feels slow. Bat outa hell at 3000 though. I’ve looked at lsr racing as well. Not sure if I want to cannibalise my pipe. Wish someone like hammer would make one that looks good is up high and performs like the defender.

They do make Sporty pipes (mids only), I wonder if they plan an A/R version in the future?

I like to see a Dyno chart on the M8 one.

I emailed them, I'll post back if the reply.

I’m pretty happy with mine I’d like to get it on a dyno and see how it works with my hammer stuff

No plans for an AR for the Sporty.

The only Dyno charts for the M8 and other AR are pretty much well modified, not much way to tell what just the pipes are doing.
