Default 48 O2 sensor?

Hey all, so here's the situation. I recently started cleaning up the bike to ride again. The bike has been outside under a ccver for a year (I was selling my house last summer then we got hit by summer storms. Then winter, finally I have a chance to get it up and going again). Besides minor cosmetic rust spots I'm sure I can clean, I took out the battery to put in a new one and found a nice mouse nest right below the neck that goes between the seat and tank. Under further inspection I found that the battery trickler I had part of the wire eaten- No worries, that's not a required part. HOWEVER I then found this group of wires that runs below the tank completely eaten through. Looking at the other end of the connector, the good side runs to the rear (bottom) exhaust. Doing a little research, I think it's for the O2 sensor. I'm trying to find a replacement wire group so I can fix it. Can anyone help point me in the right direct?

Here's Ronnie's MicroFiche regarding the 2014 '48'.
https://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche...Y-EIGHT%AE-(LC)

Look down the list for the right 'Electrical - Main Wiring Harness' (there are four sets depending on ABS or NOT - & FOB or NOT).

The Page 2 diagram shows the Rear O2 sensor wiring as part of the entire Wiring Harness.

You may have to cut & splice your own wires to replace the mouse damage.

Here is the connection points for the Rear O2 wiring:
Four Wires at the sensor (Conn-137) Then to the Harness --> Then to the ECM are:
Pin1 - System Power - VIOLET wire (conn) RED/Green --> ECM#78B-2-16
Pin2 - Heater Grnd - WHITE wire (conn) BLACK/Pink ---> ECM#78B-1-15
Pin3 - O2 Signal --- GRAY wire (conn) GRAY/Brown ----> ECM#78B-2-17
Pin4 - 5v Snsr Gnd - BLACK wire (conn) BLACK/White --> ECM#78B-2-7

Yep. It depends where it got chewed.

If it got chewed between the O2 sensor and its' connector that wire is part of the sensor and you would just replace the sensor.

If it got chewed on the harness side of the connector it's time to cut and splice.

Default wires

I'm not sure what part I would need to get to splice in...It's a tight fit, but I'm sure I could do it if I had to. I tried to attach a picture. Not sure if it will work this time or not.

Those wires are on the Harness side of the connector. These will need to be spliced back together.

You'll need to remove enough devices to get deep enough in the space to clip those wires off properly (with good insulation). Then splice some short pieces back onto them and terminate those added pieces to go back in the connector (or splice them to the wires already in the connector).

Unless you replace the whole harness, there aren't any other convenient connectors to simply replace part of the harness.

Default part #

do you guys by chance know the part number for a replacement? I'm just doing pricing research. Or finding a piece I can splice in (are any of the wires special?)...

I know how to splice but need to make sure to get the correct wires/connector.

Do you mean an entire harness...

I posted the link above for the parts diagram - It has:
Item#7 - 69200480 - MAIN WIRING HARNESS - KEYLESS, NON-ABS - 1 - $404.49

But I don't know if that meets the specs of your bike - Like I posted, there are 4 different versions...

As to repair/slicing:

Cut a piece off those wires - take it to your local hardware store - check the wire gauge - buy a foot or two that matches closely to the four colors you are replacing...

Default Re: wires

Thanks for the link to parts! I was on mobile so I didn't see it at first. I'll check into those, I'm going to go back out and investigate the harness a little bit more. if I can splice wires I think that will be the best route. I think thats the only set of wires eatten. My bigger worry is checking electric to make sure there wasn't any other wires in the bike eaten. I think the mouse was only in that one area (as it was the safest area for a nest). I may see if my buddy who's a former HD mechanic could come take a look for some beer. Thanks for the help guys!
