Default Safe Max Rev Limit stock engine Roadster 2017

Hello,

I was changing some specs on my Roadster map Trough the FP3 and I saw that my REV limit is set for 6200 RPM on my sporty. Can that limit be raised without fear of valves floating or something even worse?

Motor is stock except for the Stage 1 as Described below.

-----------------------------
Year: 2017
Model: xl1200cx
Exhaust: Custom self made Slip Ons
Baffle: stock
Intake: S&S Teardrop air cleaner
Engine: Stock

I think stock rev limiter for recent 1200 is 5.5k... so yours it's already been raised along with stage I...

Hi Man,

thanks for the reply, saw the post on this link and I see that the rated RPM is 5.5 but my understanding is that is the RPM that they have used to as a ref to the other values, not the red line RPM I guess. Cause my stock one was programmed with 6000 rpm, and the V&H map form my config was @ 6200.

Best Regards

The Stage 1 tune from the Harley Super Tuner (no longer available in the US) has a 6800 RPM limit for the 2017 Sportster 1200.

You can view the Stage 1 HD tune, AFR, Ignition tables etc and possibly compare to the rest of your FP3 tune.

You can download the latest version (there will not be any more updates) from this link:
Try all 1s for the VCI serial number.
http://prosupertuner.harley-davidson...uperTuner.aspx

The HD Pro Super Tuner training video, also at the link above, has some great info on the HD EFI system and is well worth your time to view.

the ref rpm for my ride... as you see in that table... is also the actual rev limiter... 6k (2017 883)...

maybe things are different for 1200s...

personally... with a stage I, and the limiter at 6.8k... i think my riding style would endanger the engine a bit (stock pinion gear and oil pump drive gear etc)...

it would be welcome otherwise a more graceful engagement of the very rev limiter...

Up to 2016 the HD Stage 1 tunes for the 883/1200 sportsters had a 7000 rpm red line.

correct
i read that on the HD US site...
obviously a stage I is more impressive with a rev like that... but IMO you have to put your hands inside the cam chest to put at least a bronze oil pump drive gear... for mind's sake

as for me... i leave my bike alone...
she get in third gear more than 150 km/h in a whiff
on my mountains... rare times i need more...

Mine all are set at 7,000, and they make a wonderful music when up there, just saying.
