sorry i make a mistake about the questions i d'ont see you spoke about conversion.
so i vote twin tech tc88 modul but i have a 1200 r rubermount.

Default Keith Black Pistons Conversion

Hi,

I have a conversion using Keith Black hypereutectic pistons.

After conversion, there was serious knocking. I mothballed the bike for a few months researching ignitions and ultimately waiting for a good deal on a SE Ignition Race Tuner.

When this went in, I loaded the 1200 standard curve and the knocking was lessened but still there.

The next angle of attack was a conversion of Turbota's 35 map for TC88A to IRT and some success was had.

Keith Black say that their 'magic' alloy pistons encourage a quicker burn and need about I think 3-6 drgrees less ignition advance. There has been skepiticism hereabouts regarding this, but with this programmed in the bike finally became rideable.

Further carb tuning followed and the bike is now a thundering beast.

This has been a reasonably stressful, at times, journey but the learning curve, and the help I have gained from reading this forum has been so satisfying that I am glad now that I am not riding around on a stock 1200.

The real surprise comes when you compare the stock 883 curve numbers to my new 1200KB curve! Radical differences.

Love my Sporty...

883-1200 KB Conversion,
S&S Super Air Cleaner, S&S Slip On Slash Downs,
SE IRT Custom curves, 45/180, S&S needle.
Progressive 440 Heavy Duty rear.

how many have run the 883 ignition and made it more than a few thousand miles before catastophy?

stock heads and cams is key here i think....i would think your on the 'edge' any more compression, cylinder fill wtever..and pingingingigng i had a ported 883 head and .590 cams and the 883 ignition...it wasnt pretty...fast yes...but ...waht a mess

I ran kb pistons when i done my 1200 conversion with stock cams and heads.
it only pinged when it sat in traffic and got hot running 98 Ron fuel.
I was only running a s.e race fueled but it was maxed out so probly could have done with more fuel.
i pulled the engine down after 5k km and all was like new inside.
then i went with a crush top end and never looked back

They will if they install the SE 1200 kit; for aftermarket good luck finding a dealer that will do it. They might do it but without installation ???
