Did you have any problems with anything on your first tear down to do the 1250 kit?

We had one where it had tipped on it's side briefly, and it started squealing as soon as the young lady rode it. We think it had an air bubble in the oil line and cavitated very briefly and scuffed the front piston exactly like that.

Since it ran good for three years, I'm thinking debris in the oil. The scuffing on that piston looks worse than what would be expected from just dirty oil, but anything worse should have made itself known. Do you try to change oil at lease every 5000 miles? Maybe out there in the desert you need to shorten the mileage between changes?
I am thinking of doing it every 3000 miles now. I do change it about every 5000 maybe a time or two around 6000.

The oil pump looked good inside. I have bagged it and put it away. I have an updated oil pump for this build.

And you don't have any up or down movement in either connecting rod?
