What next steps to take?
Removed points ignition - will not work with my compression ratio!
883 bathtub heads over 1200 Flat top Pistons.
Installed dyna 2ki, retarded plate .035 on curve 4
before ignition change I went way rich on jetting to fight heat causing detonation.
Now after ign change I am down on power, flat dull stumble from 45 to 55 mph, exhaust now sounds much different, dull now was crisp before, sounds like some one lugging a big twin.
So I am thinking it's just pig rich, but plugs don't show rich?
Right now it has 32 and 72 so I ordered a low jet kit and plan to try 295 and 68
am I going the right way? Or am I missing something?

If I am not mistaken, you have the module set for 28 degrees total. You might try curve 3 if that will keep the total timing at 28. That will pick up your mid range timing so you are not running around all retarded at part throttle.

probably closer to 26 to 27 total advance where I am at, so if I switch to curve 3 that should get me about 29 to 30 max but a little steeper in the middle where my complaints are (45-55) and I will probably try this.
I just figured the jetting would be first.
Am I right that a lower flater exhaust tone would be too rich, or can slower curve/retarded cause the same sound? I know both can make performance sluggish. Before, with the points the exhaust was more sharp/ringy kinda like a 2 stroke and performance was jumpy like being in the power band all the time/spastic.

Having to figure out carb jetting or igniton curve is a PIA! Like a dog chasing his tail. Been there, done that. Jetting 32/72 is OK so leave it alone for now. Ignition curve - start from square 1. Satic and dynamic timing, so ya know ya got a good starting point. Advancing and retarding the ignition unit makes it harder to get it right. Now reset the curve, going down from 4 untill it runs right. That don't work out? Last but not least,THICKER HEAD GASKETS to reduce CR. GOOD LUCK!
